Initially started in the early 1980s by Bruce Pavitt as a fanzine called Subterranean Pop, Pavitt joined forces six years later with Jonathan Poneman to create the Seattle based record label Sub Pop. Known for being one of the first pioneer labels to popularize the alternative and grunge genre, their roster includes having first signed groundbreaking groups like Nirvana and Soundgarden in 1986.

Fast forward 23 years later, Sub Pop has surprisingly teamed up with Nike SB to release a Quickstrike SB Blazer Elite in conjunction with one of their band artists OM, and their first 7″ single entitled “Gebel Barkal”. Stay tuned for more disseminaterd information and images shortly.
