Last week’s Capsule for men was bustling with potential buyers viewing product for Autumn ’10 by a variety of contemporary and streetwear brands featured by the predominantly NYC based tradeshow. Now in its third year, new and returning companies set up their booths in the historic Angel Orensanz Center along with the addition of the Puck Building location. In true tradeshow style the crowd and music was energized in what hopes to be a more promising year for retail sales. Aside from a hand select group of companies, many collections were lackluster and failed to peak our interest for mens fall. Accessories companies such as G-shock and newly launch headphone brand Urbanears peaked the interest of guests presenting an array of candy colored watches and head gear. Our next stop was a Cargo, a more independant tradeshow promoting emerging streetwear brands. We breezed through the selection and also had the opportunity to catch up with Brooklyn based designer Jenny Musitano of Yours Truly Brand. Ladies seeking flirty and playful apparel should keep their eyes open as her Summer ’10 collection will be dropping within the next few months. We’ll be reporting on the Womens Capsule show in February which will hopefully be much more promising.
