It almost seems like a lifetime ago where Time Square was ridden with countless porn shops, unsavory characters and trash ridden on every corner. That aside, there was still a sense of mystic. Every flavor and walk of life came together as one big melting pot. Perhaps it was the city grit that kept people a little more grounded and constantly on the grind. Who would have ever thought this staple location would become so prudish. Twenty-six-year old Puerto Rican artist Sofia Maldonado has recently come under both critic and media fire for her 96-foot installation commissioned by the Time Square Alliance on 42nd Steet in Times Square scheduled to run until April 30th. The mural depicts provocatively dressed Latin woman adorned with long colorful nails, door knocker style earrings and knuckle rings. A rally is set for this Wednesday, March 17th at 6PM- 215 West 42nd Street. Take a look at this informative video interview with Maldonado courtesy of Looseworld.
