Over the past few weeks we have seen some great pop-up shops throughout the boroughs. One worth a mention has got to be the JUMP pop-shop in Brooklyn’s DUMBO [Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass], otherwise known as JUMBO. For those unfamiliar, JUMP produces stylish, avant-garde footwear that comes in dazzling colors and materials. Their opening party on Thursday June 3rd was held to commemorate the shop’s new prime spot, and I was lucky enough to attend. It was a perfect blend of summer night heat, energy, style and tunes from DJ Adri.

The JUMBO location was actually inspired by the sui-generis ladies boutique NOS which launched in September 2009, and is the brainchild of founder Racquel Nosworthy and carries select designers such as Corso Como, Vera Wang, Gee WaWa, Rough Justice, Pour La Victoire, Bourne, Velvet Angels and Sam Edelman, to name a few. As NOS grew, Nosworthy wanted to create a men’s boutique to compliment the successful women’s boutique. With Nosworthy’s vision she partnered with Jump to create JUMBO as a kickoff to the summer. In August, JUMBO will transform into NOS Men, the first men’s boutique in DUMBO featuring such brands as Jump, Clae, Pointer, Alden Red Wing, H By Hudson, J. Artola and more. So if you are in DUMBO this summer be sure to swing through JUMBO and NOS. The JUMBO pop-up will run through July 25th. Swing on through, you won’t leave empty handed.
