After many months of renovation, the new House of Vans space opened its doors last night welcoming invited guests. Consisting of over 25,000 sq ft., the new venue is without doubt impressive, featuring an indoor concrete bowl as well as outdoor section complete with stairs and handrails. When not in use, the new location will service private events and parties to promote skate, artists and musical acts. Last night proved to be a big affair, as those in attendance were given the red carpet treatment with complete access to skate the premise, as well as a never ending buffet of food and open bar throughout the evening and a chance to create a complimentary pair of Vans. John Cardiel and Tony Alva dropped a few beats to set the tone while live are was produced by Mike Giant. Next up Maluca took the stage profiling the soon new Vans release with MadeMe. The crowd grew as soon as Mos Def stepped up to perform a brief set, but it was Public Enemy that brought the house down with a performance of all their classics that included Fight The Power and Public Enemy No.1. A memorable event ended with the crowd being treated to vanilla ice cream bars. Take a look at the festivities.
