Last Sunday NYC united in celebration of the house music community, most notably recognizing Larry Levan, one of it’s pioneers and longstanding DJs of the famed Paradise Garage night club originally opening in 1978 until its closure in 1987 on 84 King Street in a parking garage. In conjunction with the efforts of the Red Bull Music Academy, thousands of spectators joined in signing a petition to rename King street to Larry Levan Way. Special guests included DJ’s Francois K, David DePino, Joey Llanos and soulful house songstress Jocelyn Brown.
