JUMP | Pop- Up Shop In Dumbo Opening Event

Over the past few weeks we have seen some great pop-up shops throughout the boroughs. One worth a mention has got to be the JUMP pop-shop in Brooklyn’s DUMBO [Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass], otherwise known as JUMBO. For those unfamiliar, JUMP produces stylish, avant-garde footwear that comes in dazzling colors and materials. Their opening party on Thursday June 3rd was held to commemorate the shop’s new prime spot, and I was lucky enough to attend. It was a perfect blend of summer night heat, energy, style and tunes from DJ Adri.

Above & Blek Le Rat Exhibit- The White Wall Gallery

Coming to a close on June 5th, renowned European graffiti artists Above and Blek Le Rat were featured in the progressive White Walls Gallery in San Francisco. Each artist bringing their unique street sensibility into the gallery which made for a mixed bag of great visual candy. Blek Let Rat and Above are quite different when considering their street styles. Blek Le Rat pioneering stencil based graff in the early 1980’s continues to influence stencil artist today.

The opening reception will be held in San Franciscoat the 1AM Gallery from May 7th and open through June 19th, featuring new artwork by Shepard Fairey, Morning Breath, Doze Green, Cycle, Cope2,Trustocorp, Wane, Queen Andrea, Keo TC5, Cern YMI, Mare139, Pure TFP, Ces, Greg Haberny, Hydro74 and Siloette.

INSA | Ethel 2010 x Kicks N Canvas Exhibition

Kicks N Canvas asked Insa along with 20 other artists to create a pair of custom sneakers and a 50cm x 50cm (1.64 feet) original piece to compliment the shoes. These are definitely a pair of stunners, this is the first and only pair of of customs that Insa has done in the past 5 years. So if you are a lucky Men (US7) or Woman (US 8.5) you’re in luck. These exclusives will be served along with a ladies size INSA swoosh tee. Packaged in a premium box and tissue paper. There will be a private viewing this Thursday, April 8th from 6:30pm – 10pm.

Shot by the Italian director Marco Mucig and presented by Nike Sportswear, this short documentary entitled “I Believe in Colors” details Brazilian graffiti artist Nunca’s journey to Lambrate in Milan, for the launch of the World cup inspired “True Colors” (Brazil edition) project by NSW division. Nunca’s works feature an array of dismembered body parts, which is reportedly inspired by the tough, “un-human” city of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

It has just been announced that Banksy’s first film entitled Exit Through The Gift Shop will release in the United States beginning on Friday, April 16th in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Distributed by Paramount Pictures, theater dates and cities will include Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. Set up as a faux documentary, it’s got us laughing and curious at the same time.
